Environmentally Preferable Purchasing (EPP) Policy

To support our environmental objectives, Terra Rugs gives preference to products and services that meet the following criteria, provided they meet our standards for quality, performance, availability, and cost:

Preferred Product Attributes:

High post-consumer recycled content
Minimal and/or recyclable packaging
Low toxicity or chemical exposure risk
Reusability and durability
Locally sourced to reduce transportation emissions
Made from sustainably harvested or produced materials
Compostable or biodegradable
Conserves energy and water during use or production

Purchasing Goals:

This policy ensures that purchasing decisions align with Terra Rugs' Environmental Policy. Where feasible, we strive to source goods and services that:

Reduce greenhouse gas emissions
Are manufactured using renewable energy
Reduce air, water, and land pollution
Contain minimal hazardous substances
Feature the highest possible recycled content
Generate minimal packaging waste
Are energy- and water-efficient
Are reusable, multi-functional, or long-lasting
Minimize transportation needs (prefer local and regional suppliers)
Combine functionality (e.g., multi-purpose cleaners or equipment)

Supplier Expectations

We actively favor suppliers who:

When environmentally preferable products are not available or practical, we consider alternative factors such as:
